The only story of the history of VOLKSWAGEN

This book starts with the early beginings of Ferdinand Porsch and relates the entire story of his career as an auto maker , then as the father of the VW beetle. This is the most complete accounting on the involvement of Adolph Hitler and the Nazi party through the war years, and the saving of the factory by the British Army and Major Ivan Hirst. This book also tells the story of Heinz Nordhoff,President of VW from 1946 till his death in 1967. He is the man rsponsible for the VW Beetle becoming the most manufactured car in world history

A book for VW bug fans

Small wonder: The amazing story of the Volkswagen is a must for VW enthusiasts. It starts with the detailed recount of the genesis of the idea of a "peoples car" on both sides, the creator: Ferdinand Porsche and the force behind the construction: Adolf Hitler, and takes you up to what the VW company is today (depends on the edition you get how far into the history you get).
It is based on a great number of interviews of people who was very involved in all aspects of the development of the VW. Design, building, marketing and managing. It recounts the story of an idea, a car and a company that became the brand that we all recognize this days.
The book is a description of the history of the VW bug from the human side, not much about figures and numbers but a lot of human will.
I will recommend this book to all who want to read a warm history about the VW bug from a very human perspective. The car that almost never was but due to the triumph of the human spirit it is now an icon in history.

No doubt, it's a great read

I am 1/2 way through this book and it's a wonderful gem of history. Crazy that one Ally bomb in WWII turned out to be a dud probably saved the peoples car! I picked this up after the best VW mechanics in the NW, Porbug, tipped me off to the local Kombie VW Car Show. I just had to learn more about this small wonder.

Received this yesterday and instantly read it from cover to cover- fabulous! HTBABB is full of REAL wisdom about how to hold your own in a world of double standards and mixed messages. The book is well done with beautiful photo spreads and contains lots of Amber's unique personal commentary in the form of stories which I loved reading. I admire that Amber's voice really shines in this book from her humor to her brutal honesty about handling negativity and jealousy. The "10 rules to live by" though simple is something that many women forget to follow, 1. hold your head high 2. always smile 3. be kind to people serving you in any way (waiters, beauticians, anyone) 4. always listen more than you talk 5. know when to leave a situation when you're not wanted 6. never hide your needs, including food! no one likes a h(angry) girl 7. think before opening your mouth 8. no yelling 9. if you mess up- own it, apologize (pride kills relationships) 10. never be a hater- compliment other women! The dominant message that emerges in HTBABB that you should always hold your head high, act with class and focus on making yourself happy while lifting others up as well. Jealously and negativity is the most unattractive attitude a woman can have and it ultimately will hold you back from pursuing your dreams and affect your romantic relationships. HTBABB is the modern anthem of empowerment and a useful guide for any woman wanting to understand her feminine power and get what she wants out of life. I'm 100% team Amber.

Disappointing and useless

As a fan of Amber Rose, I was astonished (well, not *entirely* astonished) by how bad this book was.

Upon initially ordering the book, I was excited to hear autobiographical details of Amber's life - as well as her genuine advice on various topics. Most of the book is honestly unreadable. Although I obviously wasn't expecting the writing prowess of Steinbeck, it's written so badly that I feel like I'm reading one of my angsty diary entries from when I was in middle school. Also, the entire thing is triple-spaced and interspersed with blown-up iPhone selfies of Amber - stretching out one page of material into five pages.

Additionally, the "advice" (if you can call it that) is awful. Amber is rarely honest in the book - she spends every other sentence telling the reader to "love themselves" and "be themselves" - the type of advice you've heard for years. It's hardly revolutionary - which is extremely disappointing - as Amber prides herself on blazing the travels for embracement of female sexuality. I wanted to hear her true and honest thoughts on this subject - and instead, we get some ghost-written cookie-cutter mantra that hardly pushes a PG rating.

If you want an extremely large (and heavy) book filled with mediocre and pixelated iPhone photos of Amber interspersed with extremely vague feel-good compliments, then this is for you. If not, I can safely say you will be fine giving this a miss.

Yes muva!

I got the audible version of the book. I'm on my second round listening to it. Its good. I love her positive attitude in the beginning and the way she let's the reader know she never gave up on her dream and that anyone else can accomplish theirs too w persistence and vision. She talks about her childhood and growing up in Philadelphia. There's humility in this book which I appreciate. One of the things that I really appreciate about Amber Rose is that she's not a snob about her fame, she doesn't use it for selfish or vain reasons. She's always seem like a down to earth person. It's of value in our society nowadays. I love her raw nature and a stance on femininity and her views on anti slut shaming. I also appreciate the fact that she talks about where she has fallen short and about how she has forgiven herself and moved on and has not let that hold her back in achieving her goals. It gives the reader a sense of redemption. This book has an urban vibe. I'd recommend this book to young women. Fans of amber. I look forward to seeing how she grows in the media and where she will take her new found fame and upcoming. This isn't a tell all which I liked so don't expect gossip. But it is in a else a manual. And a bit of a biography.

From Shri Mataji, Sahaja Yoga (self-realization)...powerful, easy to iunderstand, and very instructive.

If you want to know Shri Mataji, the founder of Sahaja Yoga (Kundalini and self-awareness), this book is a recommended place. When I first saw a picture of Shri Mataji, my heart opened to her, eyes and smile. I loved her more when I heard her say that people should not have to pay for enlightenment, and that her teachings were free. Compare this to others with captive audiences who charge 'love-gifts' for books and CDs which bring the millions and opulent life styles. Shri Mataji teaches the principles of Sahja Yoga simply, sometimes interspersed with a short rebuke - like the village teacher every child loves but can expect to be brought back to their 'ps' and 'qs', should they deviate. She is often 'straight from the hip' in providing guidance: 'the greatest mantra is "Thy Will be Done". Say that often enough and you will surrender!. This book is composed from speeches made by Sri Mataji at different places in the world (listed), in all their simplicity for understanding. A huge bonus is a glossary which constitutes a book in itself for the student of eastern philosophy.I will read again.......

This book is a bit awkwardly written but the subject is such an interesting person and I think that this was a very good introduction to her philosophies and life.

Mackie's arguments that moral properties and facts are metaphysically queer. Part II (Critique) focuses on these arguments. Olson identifies four queerness arguments, concerning supervenience, knowledge, motivation, and irreducible normativity, and goes on to establish that while the first three are not compelling, the fourth has considerable force, especially when combined with debunking explanations of why we tend to believe that there are moral properties and facts when in fact there are none. One conclusion of Part II is that a plausible error theory takes the form of an error theory about irreducible normativity. In Part III (Defence), Olson considers challenges according to which that kind of error theory has problematic ramifications regarding hypothetical reasons, epistemic reasons, and deliberation. He ends his discussion with a consideration of the implications of moral error theory for ordinary moral thought and talk, and for normative theorizing.

About the Author

Jonas Olson is Reader in Practical Philosophy at Stockholm University. He received his PhD from Uppsala University in 2005. In 2005-2008 he was a Fellow at Brasenose College and Departmental Lecturer in Moral Philosophy at the University of Oxford. He has held visiting positions at the University of Otago, CEPPA (Centre for Ethics, Philosophy, and Public Affairs) at the University of St Andrews, and at Universite de Montreal. Olson works mainly in metaethics, value theory, and history of moral philosophy. He is co-editor with Iwao Hirose of The Oxford Handbook of Value Theory (OUP USA, forthcoming) and he has published several articles in peer-reviewed collections and journals, such as such as Australasian Journal of Philosophy, Ethical Theory and Moral Practice, Hume Studies, Mind, Oxford Studies in Metaethics, Philosophical Quarterly, Philosophy and Phenomenological esearch, Ratio, and Utilitas.

Wonderful story to read again and again

This is my go-to book for babies. I give the board book to three and under; the regular book over three. There's a glossary in the larger book. It's an introduction to First Peoples' culture, and I think it gives children a secure feeling. The reviewers who worry that some parts of the story are vivid and scary can relax. Kids who haven't been overprotected love that stuff. And besides, some kids are afraid of clowns.
