Mass customization is an emerging paradigm that is gathering a growing interest in many different industrial fields. The EUROShoE project, financed by the European Commission, explored the applicability of and developed technologies for the adoption of such a paradigm in the footwear business. The three-year research made evident the benefits that shoe companies can obtain by switching to the new business models and contributed to the development of many of the enabling technologies involved in adopting the new paradigm.

Mass Customization and Footwear: Myth, Salvation or Reality? is the only monograph dedicated to the application of mass customization in a particular industry. Based on the outcomes of the EUROShoE project, the book is a detailed analysis of the most relevant case studies of early mass customizers in the footwear sector, highlighting reasons for their failure or success. Both the technological aspects and the business aspects of mass customization, together with some relevant economic indicators are covered in the book.

By showing examples of how a "mature" manufacturing sector like shoe making can be thoroughly renovated in business and mentality by applying this paradigm; Mass Customization and Footwear: Myth, Salvation or Reality? will interest both practitioners in the footwear sector and postgraduates, researchers and lecturers in the area of mass customization.

About the Author

Professor Claudio Boer has 16 years experience in industry, mainly in the area of computer integrated design and manufacturing, and another 16 years experience as a researcher and professor of industrial technology and innovation. He also has experience as the leader of large research projects at national, European and international levels, particularly in the area of manufacturing innovation and management. He was Project Leader of the EUROShoE project managing 34 international partners. He is currently Director of the Institute for Computer Integrated Manufacturing for Sustainable Innovation (ICIMSI) in Lugano, Switzerland.

Sergio Dulio has almost twenty years of experience in the footwear sector, including 10 years involvement in research projects. His main focus of research is mass customization and footwear. He graduated, magna cum laude, in aerospace engineering at the Polytechnic of Milan in 1981 and went on to specialize in fluid dynamics attending a master course at an important NATO funded research institute in Belgium. In 2003 he was appointed by CNR – ITIA to organize, install and activate a Design and Mass Customization Laboratory in Vigevano, Italy, where a pilot plant for the production of customized shoes was put into operation. The pilot plant was managed as a real shoe factory, using the technologies developed in the EUROShoE project and manufacturing a few hundreds pairs of personalized shoes. This task was completed at the end of 2004. He was also the Technical Project Manager of an even larger footwear research project funded by the EU (the CECmadeShoe project, involving 54 partners and a budget of 21 million Euros) aimed at the development of new materials, processes and product concepts for footwear in the new century. Sergio Dulio, works as a high-level technical consultant, both for ANCI (the Italian Association of Footwear Manufacturers) and ASSOMAC (the Italian Association of shoe machinery producers) with the task of supporting these two organizations in the formulation and activation of their strategic plans in the areas of technological research and innovation. He is also an independent consultant in the field of mass customization in footwear, supporting shoe manufacturers and retailers in their strategies for the introduction of MC in their business.

Great! Great! Great Read...

The Pastor’s Husband….
Tiffany L. Warren is a great author and I have read many of her books. This one will not disappoint you at all. As you get to know Nya, Gregory, Lady Sandy, Penelope, Felicia and some of the others in this story, you will see how the tongue definitely has the power of life or death in someone’s life. Nya gets caught up in the Lady Sandy’s women’s conferences that doesn’t line up with what she and her husband had envisioned for their ministry. Penelope has a gift and wants another. Felicia out of desperate measures took what Nya told her and did things that she knew wasn’t right (married men are off limits)and found herself in a world of heartache, misery and ready for revenge. You have to thank God that you can ask for forgiveness and repent. Because only God could fix all of this… The Pastor’s Husband was a great read, I’m hoping there will be a sequel…

Felicia Caldwell works for a company that handles high-profile athletes and soon falls for one of her clients but does the client fall for her back or is he leading her on?

Nya Hempstead is being mentored to raise her ministry to another level that includes books and a TV ministry but is this what she wants considering the fact she and her husband Gregory are in a ministry together and this rise in stature may not include him. For Gregory, that is a problem, and he feels it should be a "problem" for Nya as well.

After Felicia and Nya connect during a spirit filled meeting at church, for Felicia the spiritual blessing Nya tells her about, becomes a nightmare in her mind AND life which she blames Nya for. When she joins the church that Nya and her husband Gregory pastor, will Felicia come between them and cause havoc or will the prayer warriors help save this relationship.

This offering by Tiffany L. Warren is exactly what I have come to expect from this author. An excellent read that I can sit with a cup of tea and enjoy as if I also had a slice of pie to go with it, the pie being the story. I also like when reading her work that she gives you a great story that is not preachy. I have not been disappointed with any of Tiffany L. Warrens books, and I'm sure you will not either. Tiffany takes real life situations, tells the story and adds the right twists and turns to keep you flipping the pages.

I highly recommend this read and all her other works. Add them to your stack of must reads but get to this one, first.

Character Development near Perfection!

Whew! Pastors Nya and Gregory knew their ministry would change lives and bless the masses. However, they never knew it would start with Evangelist Nya. After being 'discovered' by the biggest preacher in Dallas, Evangelist Nya is swept into the limelight and starts to love it a bit too much. Felicia Caldwell receives a word that totally changes her life and promises to get revenge.

Warren continues to wow me with her writing. The storyline develops at a steady pace with twists and turns that make you say wow. The character development and pace are near perfection. The behind the scenes look at large scale ministry is intriguing and realistic. Warren has a talent that amazes me and I can't wait to read her next book.

About the Author

Rhodri S. Lloyd is Lecturer in Sport and Exercise Physiology at Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK. He serves on the Board of Directors for the UKSCA and is the inaugural convener of the UKSCA Youth Training Special Interest Group. He is also an Executive Council Board Member for the NSCA Youth Training Special Interest Group. He has previously consulted with elite level youth sports such as tennis, football and rugby. His main research interests surround strength and power development in young athletes and long-term athletic development modelling.

Jon L. Oliver is Senior Lecturer in Exercise Physiology at Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK. He previously served as convenor of the British Association of Sport and Exercise Science Paediatric Exercise Science Interest Group. He has conducted extensive research on childhood and long-term athlete development and translated much of this knowledge to aid practitioners. His work in youth sport has included collaborations in elite youth soccer, rugby union and athletics. He is primarily interested in the development of speed and explosive activities during childhood, together with the long-term monitoring of development, training and performance.

An important book at a critical time...

I was privileged to be among the first to read author Dame's final drafts of "The Muslim Discovery of America," and I had the distinct honor of writing the Commendatory Preface which appears in the book's opening pages. Although Mr. Dame is an inquisitive and thorough investigator of seemingly everything of interest that he encounters, he has devoted his full, undivided energies to this new book for more than a year. The result is a tour de force of exposition. He examines the many historical myths advanced by Muslims as the more radical among them seek to expand their influence around the world. Taking advantage of the average person's ignorance of certain subjects, the Islamists seek to convince as many people as possible that Muslims, not Christopher Columbus, discovered the New World; that Muslims invented everything from mathematics to the alphabet to manned flight; and that Western civilization's successes are due to Islam and that its failures are the result of not following Islam.

Mr. Dame's book arrives at a time when Muslims are aggressively trying to extend their influence around the world, either blatantly or surreptitiously. After spending an evening or two reading "The Muslim Discovery of America," the reader will better understand the tactics used by those who would not hesitate to "fundamentally transform" the American way of life of liberty to a life of submission to Shari'ah law.

Some may argue that I have exaggerated the significance of the issue. To them I suggest, read "The Muslim Discovery of America."

In 2001 the great Professor of Near Eastern Studies, Emeritus, at Princeton University, Bernard Lewis, wrote the book The Muslim Discovery of Europe, which is described as a must-read for anyone interested in Middle Eastern history and ultimately Islam's spread to Europe.

The Muslim Discovery of America is the new 2013 book by Frederick William Dame that addresses not only the erroneous premise that Muslims, not Columbus, discovered America, but the historical reasoning behind the promotion of this lie and how America is simply the next step in the spread of an Islamic caliphate.

I highly recommend this book.

The Muslim Discovery of America is not a book you will read in a few hours, but one you will want to take time reading and keep on your bookshelf for future reference.

As Pamela Geller of Atlas Shrugs notes in her Foreword to The Muslim Discovery of America, "This book is the record of a colonization."

After spending an evening or two reading "The Muslim Discovery of America," the reader will better understand the tactics used by those who would not hesitate to "fundamentally transform" the American way of life of liberty to a life of submission to Shari'ah law.

It is said that politics figures very little in the book by Bernard Lewis. That is not the case with The Muslim Discovery of America. Politics is an important part of The Muslim Discovery of America, by Frederick William Dame. Islam is a political system. The book highlights Islam's Twenty Point Strategy to Undermine Democratic-Republican Governments and the Countermeasures that the United States can employ.

Again, I highly recommend this book. The Muslim Discovery of America is a resource book, a history book, and a blueprint for what Americans can do to save this great nation.

In my back-and-forth e-mails with Frederick William Dame over the past many years, I was always struck by his vast body of knowledge, his original thinking on a variety of topics, and his riveting accounts of historical events.

Amazingly, he has synthesized all of these qualities in his epic account of "The Muslim Discovery of America" - a title full of irony and even derision for the preposterous notion that Barack Obama has consistently propounded, namely that both Muslims and their political system of Islam, which is interspersed with religious characteristics, were intrinsically involved in the founding, principles, growth, and spectacular success of the United States of America!

The author demonstrates with hard facts and extensive documentation that nothing could be further from the truth.

Dame's book opens with a Commendatory Preface by Don Fredrick, whose name is widely-recognized for his Obama Timeline on the Internet (at [[...]) and for his subsequent books, The Obama Timeline: From his Birth in 1961 Through his First 100 Days in Office and Can It All Be A Coincidence?: Barack Obama's Lifelong Associations With Shady Characters and How He Is Destroying America. Fredrick has documented what he (and increasing millions of people) believe is the fraudulent "Trojan Horse" nature of Obama's presidency.

*** Most important, the fact that if America doesn't wake up to the encroaching threat of Islam, America is doomed to follow in the steps of formerly-enlightened Europe, where today the "religion of peace" is conducting grisly terrorist attacks and intimidating the populations of many countries into total submission, which is actually the literal definition of Islam.
